I have wanted a bread maker for a long time but never found the one that I wanted. Last summer I found my perfect bread maker, it’s programmable so I can set it and forget it if I choose.
I have the option of three loaf sizes to choose from and 3 different settings for the crust color. The bread pan is removable which makes for easy cleanup.
One of the kinds of bread that I like to make is the French bread, but I like to kick it up a notch by turning it into a garlic cheese toast. This French Garlic Cheese Toast goes great with my homemade Marinara Sauce and Meatball recipe.
Bread Maker French Bread Recipe
Making sure that my bread pan was secure in my bread makers, I placed my kneading paddle on. Then into my bread pan, I combined water, salt, bread flour, and the yeast all in that order.
I set the menu button to the French/Italian setting, chose a light crust color and pressed my loaf size for large (2-pound loaf).
Letting the bread maker do its work of mixing and letting the dough rise in the maker. I’m not sure how long that took because I set it and forgot it, I just listened for the beeping coming from the bread machine and I knew it was ready to come out.
Making a Baguette
After the bread dough has risen some in the bread maker I placed it on a floured surface. Using a rolling pin I rolled the dough out to form a rectangle.
With the dough rolled out I then rolled it into a baguette. Start at one of the longer sides of the rectangle and roll to the other end. I didn’t do this tight like I would cinnamon rolls but I wanted it fairly tight to help hold the shape.
I pinched the seam into the dough, this will also help hold the baguette’s shape. Then I place the baguette on a cookie sheet seam side down that I had lined with a silicone matt, or you could spray the cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Covering the dough with a towel I placed it in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes. With the 10 minutes of rising time done I gently cut angled slits into the baguette.
Covering the baguette with a generous amount of butter will help get that golden color and the crisp crunch that French Baguettes are known for. In a 400℉ preheated oven I baked the bread for 20 minutes, time may be different depending on ovens.
French Garlic Toast
Just look at that beautiful crispy golden crust on that baguette. I know not everyone has a bread maker and that’s perfectly fine. I have bought from my local grocery store a French Baguette to use for this next part.
Sprinkling Mozzarella cheese on each slice as well. I placed my garlic cheese toast into a 350℉ oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese was melted.
Garlic Cheese Toast
I normally will server this French Garlic Cheese Toast with spaghetti that I make with my homemade meatballs and marinara sauce. This garlic cheese toast is always a big hit with my family hope your family likes it as well ~ Jenny
