How To Make BBQ Chicken Sliders

These bbq chicken sliders are a simple chicken recipe to make. Made with few ingredients make these a great dinner or lunch recipe.

What you need to make BBQ Chicken Sliders

  • Crockpot
  • Shredded Chicken
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Brown Sugar
  • Apple Juice
  • Slider Buns
  • Provolone Cheese
  • Baking Dish or Foil Pan
  • Butter
  • Garlic Powder
  • Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Pastry Brush

Shredded chicken is a must-have for this recipe. In my article Instant Pot Shredded Chicken, I show you how easy it is to make shredded chicken breast in the Instant Pot or Crock-Pot.

I find that using chicken breast is best for making sliders with. Of course, you can always use a whole roasted chicken as well.

Once you have shredded chicken place it into your crock-pot. I had a batch of shredded chicken that I had frozen and then placed into the refrigerator to unthaw.

You can start with making shredded chicken in your crock-pot then add the rest of the ingredients at the end.

Add apple juice so the chicken doesn't stick to the bottom of the crock-pot. However, if you are making the shredded chicken at the same time you can skip this part and just use the juice that is left from making the shredded chicken.

Add a bottle of your favorite BBQ Sauce, I used Sweet Baby Ray's. Add brown sugar and mix everything together.

Set the timer on your Crock-Pot for 3 hours. This is to get the chicken and sauce warm.

If you are making the shredded chicken now then you will not need to cook for 3 hours. Just add your sauce and serve.

How Do I Assemble The Sliders

Once the chicken and sauce have had a chance to heat up you can serve it on buns. Or you can take it to the next step and make BBQ chicken sliders.

If you have read any of my other articles then you know I like to cut corners where I can when it comes to dishes. This is one of those recipes where I pull out the disposable foil pans.

The sliders I used was Pepperidge Farm Slider Buns, I grabbed the butter-flavored one. You can use your favorite brand.

Placing the slider buns into the foil pan, I added the bbq shredded chicken. To make these sliders owe gooey cover the chicken with provolone cheese slices.

Place the tops of the slider buns back on. Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl and add garlic powder. If you like you can also add parmesan cheese or maybe even parsley flakes.

Place the foil pan in a preheated 350℉ oven for 15 minutes to get that cheese all gooey and put a little crispiness to the tops of the buns.

What To Serve With Sliders

What is great about these sliders, is they are perfect for lunch or dinner. If we have them for lunch I'll serve them with potato chips or even my Potato Salad recipe.

For dinner, I will serve them with mac and cheese. My baked bean recipe would be another great side to have with them.

BBQ chicken sliders are great for busy weeknights or if you are meal prepping. You can make a double batch and freeze them for another night.

I love shredded chicken sandwiches. I often eat them plain, but this recipe with BBQ sauce looks really good. I will definitely need to give this a try.
