Easy to Organize a Baking Center

February 15, 2018 by Jennifer Leave a Comment

Cupboard that is filled with baking supplies.

I have seen all types of baking centers around on the internet. Most that I have seen focused only on the things that are needed for baking like, bowls, mixers, measuring cups and spoons.

That wasn't the way I wanted mine to be. My goal was to have my baking ingredients and baking utensils handy so I wasn't running all over the kitchen for what I needed.

I have never had as much space in a kitchen before like I do in this one. With having the huge pantry as we have, meant that I wouldn't have to use a cupboard for food storage. I decided that I would turn this corner of the kitchen into my baking center.

How to Organize a Baking Center

One of my goals is to try and keep more organized throughout the house, my kitchen has been the main focus. I feel that being more organized makes our home life easier to manage, especially the kitchen.

We know where everything is and spend less time searching for things that we need. The key to staying organized is to put it back where you found it when you are done with it.

To organize the baking center I chose to use containers, baskets, and mason jars for storage.  Most of my baking ingredients are in these Rubbermaid storage containers, with the exception of a few things that I have in mason jars. I used chalk labels to help with identifying what is in each container.

The baskets hold a variety of things, the two up top are filled with extra scoops for my containers,  sprinkles and food coloring. While the lower one holds my collection of measuring cups.

I prefer to have the one set out where I can grab it easier, this is my go-to for measuring cups. The extra's are in case these ones are in the dishwasher.

In the pantry, I keep a basket that holds the original containers of the baking ingredients. I feel my containers are much more eye-pleasing than the original boxes and bags.

Having this basket in the pantry lets me have a little stockpile so I won't run out.

Organize By Using Containers On The Counter

I wish I was the type of person that didn't like to have anything on the countertops but I feel that some things are just necessary to have out.  My kitchen aid is a must to have out and available, the attachments are kept in the mixing bowl so I know where they are.

Next, to the kitchen aid, I have a shadow box that has handwritten recipes from my grandmother and my great-grandmother.

My grandmother inspired me and my love of cooking/baking, she also would tell me how my great-grandmother would do stuff. I have a recipe that I laugh every time I read it because it says spank the dough, I know this was my great-grandmother coming out in that recipe.

When I'm in my baking center its like I get to bake with my grandmothers.

The glass containers hold sugar and flour, I'm able to see when they are low and need to be filled. I actually will take time each week to make sure that all my containers are full.

Then I know I'm ready for my next baking experiment and I also know if I need to replenish my supplies. Today I have a lava cake going. That will be a future blog post so keep your eye out for that.

Drawer Organization

Kitchen drawer filled with utensils.

There are quite a few drawers in my kitchen. I like to keep things that I need while baking in this drawer. The one by the stove is for things I need when cooking.

This drawer isn't as organized as I would like it to be. I'm looking into that, I think I want some kind of drawer caddy.

But I wanted to show you the liner on the inside of the drawer. These liners are in my cupboards, drawers and I have some on top of my cupboards.

These are what I prefer because they don't stick to surfaces, so when you remove them there is no damage. I take mine out now and again to wash them which they hold up really well.

They do a great job at protecting the surface you are using them on. Can you tell I really love these liners, if you plan on buying any liners I recommend these?

Thanks for taking a tour of my baking center with me ~Jenny
