A plate of caramel apple dip with toffee bits on top.

The perfect autumn pairing for crispy fall apples is this cream cheese caramel apple dip. Tangy cream cheese is coated with caramel sauce and toffee bits. Dip sliced apples or graham crackers into this cream cheese dip for a delicious fall snack.

It's the fall season and that means pumpkins and apples galore. It's hard for me to think of fall without thinking about pumpkin recipes like our pumpkin muffins. Of course, apple recipes like our cinnamon apple bread are also on my mind and that is where this amazing caramel apple dip comes in.

Tangy cream cheese is whipped with powdered sugar and vanilla and then layered in a dish. Topped with a sweet caramel sauce and sprinkled with toffee bits. This amazing appetizer recipe is a must try this fall season.

Ingredients Needed And How To Make

A. dish with a cream cheese mixture that is covered in caramel. Another image with the caramel covered with toffee bits and apples next to the dish.

This apple dip recipe is quick to make with a few simple ingredients. I always start with room temperature cream cheese, this way it will whip up fluffy. For food safety reasons make sure not to have your cream cheese out at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

To make the cream cheese a bit tangy I like whipping the cream cheese with powdered sugar. I use powdered sugar instead of sugar so the cream cheese mixture won't be grainy. This gives the cream cheese layer more of a cheesecake flavor. I also add in a splash of vanilla extract just to enhance the flavors. Whip these three ingredients together until light and fluffy, then spread into a dish.

Once the cream cheese layer is in your preferred dish spread a caramel sauce on top. The caramel sauce I used was Smucker's caramel sauce, you can use whatever you prefer. This would taste amazing with a salted caramel sauce as well or even a homemade sauce.

Top the caramel layer with a sprinkling, okay maybe more than a sprinkling of toffee bits. It's that simple and quick to make this amazing caramel apple dip with toffee bits.

Recipe Notes

This recipe can easily be made ahead of time. Although to make this apple dip creamy and dippable, it should be served at room temperature. Of course, apple slices taste amazing with this dip. But graham crackers or sliced pears are also delicious.

When this apple dip isn't being enjoyed it should be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator. This dip doesn't seem to make it more than a couple of days in our home. But if properly store it should last 2-3 days in the refrigerator.

Of course, I love to share any type of substitutions I can with recipes and this dip recipe has a couple. I used powdered sugar but if you don't have any then granulated sugar will be fine. You may want to mix longer to make sure the sugar incorporates well into the cream cheese.

When it comes to the caramel sauce, I used Smucker's but you could also use Marzetti caramel dip or homemade. Any type of salted caramel sauce would also be amazing for this apple dip recipe. Replace the toffee bits with chopped peanuts or even mini chocolate chips. Or even combine the peanuts and chocolate chips together.

Now I can't forget to offer any tips I have for this recipe and that is with the apple slices. To save the apples from going brown once sliced place them into lemon water. I filled a bowl with about 1 ½ cups of water and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. When ready to serve the dip remove the apples from the water and pat them dry.

I find working with room temperature cream cheese is best. The cream cheese whip up easier with the powdered sugar. My last tip for this recipe is in order to serve more people, this dip recipe can easily be doubled.

This cream cheese caramel apple dip reminds me of a caramel apple mixed with cheesecake. This dip recipe is the perfect appetizer for any type of gathering.
