Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

When we have company come over for dinner I like to make a quick and easy dessert. My normal go-to recipe is this Molten Lava Cake. It's simple to throw together and I don't have to worry about it because it's in the crockpot.

This crockpot dessert recipe is simple to make with few ingredients.

Chocolate lava cake in a white bowl.

The base of the cake is a rich chocolate flavor that is covered with homemade chocolate pudding. This rich chocolate fudge dessert goes perfectly with vanilla ice cream.

Chocolate Lava Cake Goodness

The dry ingredients for a crockpot chocolate cake recipe.

In a small bowl mix together 1 Cup Sugar, 1 Cup Flour, 3 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa, 2 teaspoons Baking Powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Set aside.

When I do any type of baking I like to sift my flour and with this recipe, I like to sift my baking cocoa. Sifting will add a little air into the flour to help make the cake fluffier.

Sifting the baking cocoa will help get any lumps there may be in the cocoa out.

Using a larger bowl add ½ Cup Milk, 2 Tablespoons melted butter, and 1.2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract. Mix these ingredients together until blended well.

Once I have the milk, butter, and vanilla combined I will add the flour mixture. Slowing adding the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and making sure to mix everything well.

Spray the inside of your crockpot with cooking spray. The cooking spray will help make sure the cake doesn't stick to the inside of the crockpot.

Pour the batter mixture into the bottom of the crockpot.

Chocolate chips on top of the chocolate cake batter that is in a slow cooker.

Sprinkle the top of the batter with one cup of Chocolate Chips. This is what makes the ooey-gooey goodness even better. Plus adds to the rich chocolate flavor.

Molten Lava

The molten sauce part of a chocolate lava cake in a mixing bowl.

The next step is to add in a bowl: 1 ¾ Cups Hot Water, 3 Teaspoons unsweetened Cocca, and ¾ Cup Sugar. Stir the mixture until the sugar is dissolved.

Pour the liquid lava into the crockpot, covering the batter and chocolate chips.

Turn crockpot on high for 2 hours, after the first two hours turn it to low for another two hours. The Molten Chocolate Lava Cake will need to cook in the crockpot for a total of 4 hours.

Molten  Goodness

Serve this warm Molten Lava Cake with a scoop of ice cream and drizzle it with chocolate syrup, yummy. This Molten Chocolate Lava Cake is sure to be a hit.

What I love about this recipe is being able to put everything together in the crockpot and not having to watch over it.

Thank you!! I think because it's a crockpot recipe is one of the reasons I like it so much. Other than the fact that it is delicious.
