In a large bowl using a wooden spoon or the bowl of a stand mixer that has been fitted with the hook attachment. Combine the two ingredients until a dough ball forms.

Just be careful to not overmix the dough. Overmixing develops gluten in the dough, which can make the bread tough and chewy instead of light and fluffy.

Prepared a loaf pan by lining it with parchment paper, I did spraying the paper with nonstick cooking spray. Then add the bread dough into the prepared pan.

That's right there is no kneading or need of a rolling pin for this recipe. Once the dough is in the 8x4 loaf pan place it into a preheated 350-degree oven. Bake for 35- 40 minutes. Keep in mind every oven bakes differently.

Overhead look of the bread that has been sliced.

  • Ensure you are using fresh, good-quality self-rising flour. The quality of the ingredients can significantly impact the final result.
  • Measure accurately, by scooping the flour into the measuring cup and leveling off the measuring cup.
  • Don't overmix, overmixing will cause overdevelopment of gluten which make the bread tough.
  • Get that oven preheating! You want the oven to be preheated before placing the bread in or else the bread will not bake properly.
  • Create a quick egg wash on the top of the loaf before placing in the oven. This will give the bread a glossy golden brown color. And will also help seeds adhere to the top of the loaf better.
  • When it comes to baking time, remember all ovens bake differently. So keep a close eye on the bread, when it looks golden brown in color and is hollow when tapped on the bottom. Then the bread is done.

How To Store

Allow the loaf of bread to completely cool at room temperature before storing. This helps prevent condensation from forming inside the container you're storing the bread in.

Wrap the bread in plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or store it in an airtight container. The bread can be stored like this for 1-3 days at room temperature. Just make sure to keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

For longer storage, store it in the refrigerator for about a week. However, refrigeration can make the bread slightly denser. You could also freeze the bread for longer storage.
