Steak Bites Ingredients
Not only is this recipe quick and easy to make but it doesn't require many ingredients to make it.
- Steak~ sirloin steak is what I used because it's a tender and typically a cheaper cut of meat.
- Olive Oil~ Olive oil wont leave that oil flavor to what you are cooking like say vegetable oil will. Not to mention it's a healther oil to use. Plus olive oil will hold up to the heat that we need for this recipe unlike other oils. I normally use extra virgin olive oil.
- Salt and pepper~ Typically when I make steaks I like to use steak seasoning. But for this recipe salt and pepper is all you need.
- Butter~ You can't have a butter sauce without butter. I prefer to use unsalted butter that way I have more control over the amount of salt in this recipe.
- Garlic~ Fresh garlic is best since we are sauté it in with the butter. But if you don't have fresh then garlic powder would be a good subsitute. Just add the garlic powder into the butter and heat until the butter is melted.
- Red Pepper Flakes~ Red pepper flakes bring a little spicy heat to this recipe. Of course this can always be left out if spice isn't for you.
- Parsley~ The parlsey not only adds a bit of flavor but adds a bit of color to this recipe. After all we do eat with our eys as well.
How To Make Garlic Butter
To get started making this recipe think about the pan you will be using. I used my cast iron skillet but any skillet that can hold high heat will work. The trick to this recipe is getting the skillet really hot. A really hot skillet will give a good first sear to the steak bites.
Add the olive oil into a large skillet and heat. Once the oil is heated add the steak bites into the pan, season with salt and pepper. Let the bites sit in the pan without stirring for 2 minutes. This will give a good sear to the bites.
After the two minutes of searing stir the bites and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until desired doneness is reached. Be careful not to overcook the meat or else it will become tough.
I do recommend not to crowd the skillet with the meat. I worked in batches to get a nice sear on the sirloin tips.
When all the meat is fully cooked remove it from the skillet. I filled a large bowl with the cooked steak then placed it in the microwave to keep warm.
The butter sauce is simple to make. Once all the meat is removed from the skillet turn the heat down to medium-low. Melt the butter in the skillet with the remaining oil and bits of steak.
With the butter melted add the fresh garlic and red pepper flakes into the skillet. Sauté until the garlic becomes aromatic and starts to brown. Cooking the garlic butter separately from the meat ensures that the garlic doesn't burn.
Stir the steak bites back into the skillet with the garlic butter. Making sure to coat all the bites with garlic butter.
Answering Questions
Sirloin steak is a great choice to use because it's tender and flavorful. Also, sirloin is typically a cheaper cut of meat. However, New York strip, tenderloin, or rib-eye are also great choices.
Fresh garlic will infuse with the butter better. The heat from the skillet will bring out the aromatic flavors of the fresh garlic. Garlic powder will work, there just won't be that fresh garlic taste that makes this recipe.
Serve the bites over mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a complete meal. We like to enjoy these with potato salad or French fries as well.
Not only are these steak bites with garlic butter a great dinner recipe. They make for an amazing appetizer as well. Stir up a batch of these steakhouse-style bites to enjoy at home.
