Herb butter with garlic is quick and easy to put together. This compound butter complements so many recipes like steak, vegetables, and bread. Fresh garlic and herb turns butter into a delicious spread in minutes.

Compound butter adds so much flavor to many recipes like steaks, vegetables, corn on the cob, and bread. We like to use this as a spread on our French bread as well as our cheese and garlic crack bread recipe.

What Is Herb Butter With Garlic

Herb butter with garlic is a compound butter. Which is just a fancy way of saying butter that has other ingredients added to it. In this case, the ingredients we added to our butter were fresh herbs and garlic.

Garlic herb butter is simple to make and only takes a few minutes to make. Once the butter is made it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two months. There are many ways to store this butter. I like to roll the butter up in parchment paper. Then twist the ends closed. This will give me a log of butter that can be sliced and added into recipes.

If you want to use it as a spread then you may want to take it out of the refrigerator. And let it come to room temperature before using.

Unsalted butter is a great starter to compound butter.

Since I use unsalted butter to make this herb butter it becomes very solid once it's been in the refrigerator for a bit.

Compound butter can be made with dried or fresh herbs. I have made it both with dried and fresh herbs, I do prefer fresh herbs.

Using fresh garlic really brings in a more garlic flavor. Then my normal pre-minced garlic in a jar that I use. Either way, this homemade garlic butter turns out delicious. It's easy to make either way.

Just add the herbs, garlic, and room temperature butter to a mixing bowl. Stir all the ingredients together.

More Questions Answered

How is herb butter used? This butter can be used in so many delicious ways. Simply as a spread on your favorite bread. Or use it on French bread slices and toast it in the oven for garlic toast. Kick up steaks, potatoes, and vegetables up a notch by adding a slice of this butter.

To use unsalted or salted butter for making this compound butter? I say unsalted only because if I'm adding it to another recipe chances are there will be salt in that recipe.

Can herb butter with garlic be frozen? It sure can!! A great way to do this would be adding the butter into ice cube trays, once it's frozen place the frozen cubes into a freezer bag. Then you can reach into the freezer bag and grab one to put into the pan while searing a steak. The butter compound may be stored like this for up to 6 months.
