How To Make Instant Pot Chicken Bone Broth
Whenever I make a whole roasted chicken I'll save the chicken carcass to make bone broth in my Instant Pot. It's simple and sort of quick to make.
I start by adding the carcass into my inner pot of my Instant Pot. Next, I cut off the ends of two carrots and cut them in half. Add those into the pot as well.
Cleaning two celery stalks I then cut the ends off and again cut in half. You may not need to cut them, I did so the vegetables would fit into the inner pot.
I then will peel and chunk up an onion adding it in with the other vegetables. Next, I add fresh parsley that I have chopped a little to get the flavor out.
The last step is to add 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar and 10 cups of water into the inner pot. Remember not to go past the fill line on your inner pot.
Next, you will set your Instant Pot to high pressure and adjust the time to 1:20 minutes. Do a natural release for at least 10 minutes.
When the broth is done in the sink, I strained the broth into mason jars. I was able to get 3-quart jars filled. After the jars are filled and cooled store them in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
When you use the broth there will be a fat layer, I just scrape that off before I pour it into my recipe.
How to use Bone Broth
I'm sure you are wondering how do I use it. There a lot of ways that it can be used.
Since an Instant Pot needs liquid to help build pressure, Instant Pot recipes would be a great place to start.
If a recipe calls for chicken stock or water I will replace it with bone broth. Take my recipe for Instant Pot Creamy Chicken Chili.
If I have bone broth I would replace the water and the better than bouillon with the bone broth.
Since bone broth is great for so many nutritional reasons. Some people will drink the broth warm like a cup of tea.
The next time you roast a whole chicken in the oven save the bones so you can make your very own bone broth.
