How To Make Instant Pot Stuffing
We start this recipe off by adding dried bread crumb cubes in a large bowl. Mixing in a bit of sage for an earthy savory flavor.
Letting the bread cubes soak up the chicken broth before adding any of the other ingredients. Allows for a perfectly moist stuffing recipe. Making this recipe in the Instant Pot helps to keep the stuffing moist.
In a large mixing bowl add in the cubed stuffing mix, mix in the sage and parsley. Add in the chicken broth and let the bread cubes soak up as much of the broth as possible.
While the bread cubes are soaking up the chicken broth I like to sauté my vegetable. This can be done in the Instant Pot as well, just make sure to deglaze the inner pot after. Or you can do this in a frying pan on the stove.
Once the vegetables are sautéd I like to let them cool a bit before mixing them into the bread crumbs.
Sometimes I feel the best tools in the kitchen are my hands. Using my hands I like to get into the bread cubes and kind of squeeze the cubes to help absorb the rest of the chicken broth.
Once I feel all the chicken broth is absorbed into the bread cubes I add in the egg. Mixing with my hands until the egg is incorporated into the bread cubes. Still using my hands I will mix in the sautéd vegetables until they are all combined.
I don't over mix or squeeze the bread cubes. Because I want some chunks of cubes to be seen in the stuffing recipe, and this also helps to keep the dressing moist.
How Long To Cook Dressing In The Pressure Cooker
I have found that the best Instant Pot stuffing is done as a pot in pot recipe. If you haven't cooked like this in your pressure cooker. It's really simple to do as long as you have a baking dish that fits inside your Instant Pot.
I used a 7- inch baking dish in my 6 quart Instant Pot. Make sure to lightly coat the baking dish with cooking spray before adding the stuffing in.
I have this handy sling that I use for pot in pot recipes but you could always use the trivet that came with your Instant Pot. Or you can make a sling out of foil to help take the hot baking dish out of the pressure cooker.
Add the amount of water that is needed for your pressure cooker then add in the sling with your baking dish. Place the lid onto the pressure cooker making sure to close the steam valve to sealing.
Press the pressure cooker button making sure it's on high pressure. Adjust the cooking time to 25 minutes. It will take about 10 minutes for the pressure cooker to come to pressure and start cooking.
Once the cooking time is done I do a natural release for 10 minutes. When you do a quick release it releases all the steam at once sometimes removing the moisture from the food. With a natural release, the steam slowly releases from the pot and is less likely to remove the moisture from the food.
Now if you like a bit of crispiness to the top of your dressing, place it under the broiler for 2 minutes on high.
Stuffing Or Dressing
Now let's talk real quick about dressing versus stuffing. They both are the same it's just stuffing is well stuffed into poultry and dressing isn't. The dressing is baked in a baking dish. So technique this is dressing since it isn't stuffed into poultry.
Whether you call this Instant Pot stuffing or dressing this pot in pot recipe makes a great side dish for the holidays.

Homemade Stuffing In The Instant Pot
Instant Pot stuffing is the prefect side dish recipe for the holidays. Free up room in the oven by making this simple dressing in the pressure cooker.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 Small Onion finely chopped
- 2 Stalks Celery finely chopped
- 1 Tabelspoon Garlic mince
- 5 Cups Dried bread cubes stuffing mix
- 1 Tablespoon Parsley dried or fresh
- 1 teaspoon Sage
- 1 Cup Chicken Broth
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 Cup Water for inner pot
- Salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Instructions

Turn the Instant Pot to the Satué mode. Once the IP reads HOT add in the olive oil and let heat up a bit. Add in the celery and sauté for a minute before adding in the onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Sauté until the onions are just about translucent this will take about 2 minutes. Add in the minced garlic sauté until onions are translucent.

Once the veggies are done cooking remove them from the inner pot and let cool some before mixing into the stuffing mix. Deglaze the inner pot if needed.

In a large bowl add in the dried bread cubes, sage, parsely, and chicken broth. Let sit for a minute or so for the bread cubes to absorb the chicken broth.

Mix together the dried bread cubes, sage, and chicken broth until all the bread cubes feel moist. I like to do this with my hands. I kind of squeeze the bread cubes to help absorb the chicken broth.
Mix the egg into the wet stuffing mixture until combined. Don't over mix or squeeze the bread cubes too much. We want the stuffing mixture wet so it will be moist when cooked.

With the veggies cooled down some mix them into the stuffing mixture.

Spray your baking dish that fits into your Instant Pot with cooking spray. Add the stuffing into the baking dish.

Place a trivet into the inner pot and add the cup of water into the inner pot.

Place the baking dish full of stuffing onto the trivet.

Place the lid onto the Instant Pot making sure the steam release valve is closed.

Press the pressure cooker button (making sure it's on high pressure) adjust the cooking time to 25 minutes.

When the cooking time is over do a natural release for 10 minutes.

To crispy up the top of the stuffing mix place under broiler that is set to high for 2 minutes.

I used my 6 quart Instant Pot. If you use a different size pressure cooker adjust the water amount for your size Instant Pot.
