Frozen ravioli casserole is one of those easy dinner recipes that is made from pantry and freezer staples. Made with layers of frozen ravioli, meat sauce, and cheese. This baked ravioli casserole is a great dinner idea for busy weeknights. It's also a great freezer meal to have on hand.
A question that I get asked daily is "what's for dinner". Hold on now because I'm about to drop a truth bomb here. There are some nights I have no clue what to make for dinner. Meal planning is something that I will be focusing on this coming year.

One evening after getting the daily question I found myself looking in the pantry. We have a few pantry staples that I can always count on having on hand.
One is spaghetti sauce or I have the ingredients to make my homemade Instant Pot marinara sauce. Knowing that I had hamburger meat that should be used in the refrigerator. I checked the freezer to see what there might be to go along with the meat. Finding frozen cheese ravioli I decided that baked ravioli casserole was what was for dinner.
This was such a easy recipe to make and the whole family loved it. Our spinach and artichoke chicken casserole is a great recipe if you are looking for a chicken recipe.
Baked Ravioli Casserole
The first thing I did was preheat the oven to 400℉. Then I started to brown the ground beef. As the meat starts to brown I like to add in the onion and minced garlic.
Make sure to season the ground beef with my go-to seasonings of black pepper and seasoning salt. I also like to make sure that the ground beef is chopped up fine for this recipe. One of my favorite tools to use for this is my meat chopper.
Being on the skeptical side when I bought this. I was surprised that it works really well.
With the ground beef browned I drained the grease from the meat into a can. I keep a metal can under the kitchen sink for grease so I don't clog my drains. After adding the pasta sauce to the browned meat. I was ready to start making the ravioli casserole.
Ravioli Lasagna Layers
As I was putting this recipe together I keep thinking about how this reminded me of lasagna. Just like lasagna, this ravioli casserole recipe has layers.
In a 9x13 baking dish that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. I added a thin layer of the meat sauce to the bottom of the baking dish.
The layer of meat sauce as well as the cooking spray will help the ravioli from sticking to the baking dish. Then a single layer of frozen ravioli is placed on top of the meat sauce.
There is no need to thaw the ravioli for this casserole recipe it will bake up nicely in the oven. However, some of the frozen ravioli did stick together so I just added both together. You could use fresh ravioli but the baking time may need to be altered a bit.
On top of the frozen cheese ravioli add a layer of meat sauce. On top of the sauce sprinkle the mozzarella cheese. Repeat these steps one more time.
For the top layer, I like to also add freshly grated parmesan cheese along with the mozzarella cheese. Place a sheet of aluminum foil over the baking dish.
Now the ravioli lasagna is ready to be baked in a preheated 400℉ oven for twenty minutes. Whenever I'm cooking or baking to help me keep track of time I like to set a timer.
After 20 minutes my timer went off and I removed the foil from the baking dish. Continuing to bake the ravioli casserole for another twenty minutes.
Simple Dinner Recipe
This easy meal is perfect for busy nights and will become a family favorite. This easy dinner recipe can easily feed 6 hungry people or you can cut the recipe in half and serve it for two with a few leftovers. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
We love to pair this cheesy baked ravioli casserole with garlic bread and a salad for a complete dinner. The ravioli I used has cheese in it. However, you could use the meat-filled frozen ravioli.
Then you could omit the ground beef in your pasta sauce. But I say live on the edge and keep the ground beef in the pasta sauce. Either type of ravioli you choose this dish is sure to be a hit. Many blessings from our table to yours.
