Steak Marinade Made With 3 Ingredients
Steak can be a little frightening to cook, for me I think it's because I know steaks can be really costly. I surely don't want to mess up that perfect choice cut of meat I plan on serving.
That is where marinating that choice cut before cooking will help by infusing more flavor and helping to tenderize the meat.
This 3 ingredient marinade recipe is for steak however if you are looking for a chicken marinate then head over to our recipe for Grilled Chicken Kabobs.
In a large bowl, we are going to add olive oil and soy sauce. The olive oil will help seal the juiciness as well as add a bit of flavor to the meat. The soy sauce I feel really stands out with its saltiness and sweet taste.
Even though I use lower-sodium soy sauce it still adds a bit of saltiness to the marinade. So I do keep this in mind when doing the seasoning before cooking the meat.
Meat that has been soaked in soy sauce will start to have a caramelized color faster when cooked. This helps to not overcook the meat and adds to the tenderness of the cooked meat.
Into the bowl with the olive oil and soy sauce add the balsamic vinegar. Balsamic vinegar does a few things to a marinade.
The balsamic vinegar will help tenderize the meat. The acid in the vinegar helps to break down the fat in the beef making the meat more tender. It also brings a sweet yet tart flavor to this 3 ingredient marinade. All these ingredients bring in flavors that will help to make a steak taste even better.
How Long To Marinade
Once you have all the liquid ingredients mixed together it's time to add your favorite choice cut of meat.
It depends on what I'm doing with the meat for this next step. If I'm using the marinade for just steaks. Then I will add the steaks and marinade into a ziplock bag. Tossing the meat and marinade around a bit to make sure the steaks get a nice coat on them.
If I'm making steak kabobs then I will keep the marinate in the bowl just adding the cubed beef into the bowl. Tossing the meat into the liquid to get a nice coating of the marinate onto the steak cubes.
Whichever way you are using this steak marinade for, it will need to be refrigerated for some time.
Let's answer the question of how long to marinade for. I would say no less than 4-6 hours but would really recommend letting the meat marinate overnight. That way the meat can really soak up the flavors from the marinade.

With this 3 ingredient marinade, I didn't add any spices in with the liquid. However, you could add salt, pepper, minced garlic, and even a splash of lemon juice. You could bring a little heat to this marinade with some red pepper flakes.
I use this 3 ingredient steak marinade all the time for our steak kabobs and love the simple taste these few ingredients add to our Grilled Steak Kabobs.
