Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle Recipe

Every now and again it's nice to have a dessert for the family. My family loved my Chocolate Trifle Recipe so much I thought I would come up with another trifle for them.

It's been a long winter and my thoughts have been on things we love to do during summer. One of the things we love to do is pick strawberries for jam or strawberry shortcake.

That's when I thought why not make a strawberry cheesecake trifle dessert.

This is how I made my Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle

Step By Step Directions

Here is what you will need to make a Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle

  1. Strawberries
  2. Sugar
  3. Box Yellow Cake Mix (and all the ingredients to make it)
  4. Cool Whip (thawed)
  5. Instant Cheesecake Pudding (and the ingredients to make it)

The first thing I did was make the cake according to the directions on the back of the box. I baked it in a 9x13 cake pan.

When the cake had finished baking and was cooled I cut the cake into square chunks.

strawberries in a bowl.

While the cake was baking I prepped my strawberries. First start by washing the berries in cold water, this helps get any dirt that may have been on the berries.

I then cut the tops of the strawberries off and then sliced the berries.

Placing all the sliced berries into a bowl I added the sugar. Taking a potato masher I mashed the berries up some.

The sugar helps bring out the juices of the strawberries when you mash them.

When you add the mashed strawberries on top of the cake the juice will soak into the cake and make the cake moister and give it a hint of strawberry flavor.

After the strawberries are mashed set them aside.

Make the Instant Pudding according to the back of the package and then set this aside also.

Layers Of A Trifle

The first layer of this trifle is the cake squares. I used about half of the 9x13 cake for this layer. Place the cake squares into a trifle bowl or large bowl.

Make sure to get as much cake as you can on this layer. That way your layer of strawberries doesn't just go to the bottom of your bowl.

Once you have the cake layer top it with half of those strawberries you mashed.

The next layer is that of the pudding. Again I used half of the pudding I had prepared.

Next comes half of the tub of Cool Whip. Spread this out evenly over the pudding.

With the first four layers to the Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle done I repeated my steps.

Depending on how tight you place the cake squares on both layers will depend on if you have any cake extra. Or depending on the size of your bowl.

When I made the pudding I used two boxes because I wanted to make sure I had enough for the two layers. I did have extra when I was done but that was quickly eaten by teenagers so there was no waste.
