Homemade white chocolate macadamia nut cookies bake up soft and loaded with flavor. You get a rich butter flavor from the nut and a creamy flavor from the white chocolate.
Have you ever tried White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies before? When the kids were smaller and we would do our back to school shopping at the mall for a treat we would stop at the cookie shop.
Now knowing how most kids are mine is no exception they love cookies and yes this was my way of bribing them to behave while shopping. One year while making our stop to the cookie shop, I picked out a White chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie.
Oh, my goodness, this cookie was so good and I knew I needed to figure out how to make these at home. I think I have succeeded in making a great cookie.
In this blog post, I will show you how to make the best white chocolate macadamia nut cookie.
Making White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies From Scratch
The first thing I do is preheat my oven to 375℉. Normally my oven is up to temperature by the time I have the cookies fully made. Preheating will help with making sure the cookies bake properly and it will also help with the baking time.
If the oven isn't preheated then the cookies will take longer to bake.
Moving on to my next step, I had a 2-ounce package of Macadamia nuts that were whole. Not wanting huge chunks of nuts in my cookies I took a knife and chopped them up some.
Whenever I make cookies I always start with these steps.
Placing room temperature butter (I use Blue Bonnet) or for those that might call it margarine, in my mixer bowl. Along with white and brown sugar. Cream the sugars and butter together until smooth.
Next add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixer, making sure to mix this really well. Normally when I bake with vanilla extract it's the imitation kind so if you are using real you may want to scale back on the extract a bit. Unless you like the extra vanilla taste.
Placing a sifter over a small bowl. Into that sifter, I add my flour, baking soda, and salt. Doing this will help make the cookies fluffier.
Then I slowly add a little of the flour to the butter mixture at a time. Making sure that all the flour is incorporated before adding more.
That way I know that I'm getting all the flour mixed in. Also that I'm not overworking my mixer. By adding everything at once and since I am using my stand mixer I don't end up with flour everywhere.
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies
With all the flour mixed into the batter mixture, it's time to add the white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts. Normally I will mix these in my hand that way the chips and nuts don't get broken down from the mixer.
Using a 1-inch cookie scoop I placed them on the cookie sheet that is lined with a silicone liner. You could also protect your cookie sheet with foil that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
For every cookie sheet I get about 9-12 scoops of dough on. This depends on how big of a cookie sheet is used. You will want to make sure the cookies are spaced out fairly well so they have room to bake up.
Placing the cookies into the oven for 14-16 minutes, or until done. Depending on your oven it might not take that long or it may take longer, this is what it took my oven to bake them at.
Cookie Goodness
When the cookies are fully baked I remove them and place them on a cooling rack.
I tell you my kids sure know when the cookies are out of the oven because these cookies were not even on the cooling rack for a minute and I heard "can I have a cookie". Of course, this came from the child that I have dubbed cookie monster, but the other two were close behind asking for one as well.
As a new school year draws nearer the memory of back to school shopping will forever be linked to these cookies for me. I hope you enjoy them.
