Ground pork is cooked in a skillet and seasoned with ground pepper, ginger, salt, minced garlic, onion, and the whites of green onions. Cole slaw mix is added for the shredded cabbage aspect of the egg roll. Then a delicious sauce is made from chili sauce, soy sauce, and white rice vinegar to bring together that egg roll flavor.

How To Make

For this easy one-dish recipe, you will need a large skillet. Start with sautéing the onions, garlic, and whites of the green onions over medium-high heat until they are translucent. Add in the ground pork and season with ground ginger, pepper, salt, onions, and minced garlic, and cook until the pork is fully cooked.

You can serve pork egg roll in a bowl over cauliflower rice or as is. Both ways make for a delicious dinner recipe.

Substitutions

My local grocery store has been a hit or miss with having the prepackaged coleslaw mix. So if you are finding that same problem you could use both red and green cabbage that has been shredded.

Then simply add in some shredded carrots to make it a cole slaw mix. This will add to the time of preparing the recipe but it won't affect the taste in a negative way.

We have also made this delicious recipe with ground chicken and it tasted amazing. Regular pork sausage would also work as a replacement for ground pork. For a vegetarian option, you could make it without any meat. After all, you can get egg rolls with pork, chicken, or just with vegetables.

We use chili sauce as part of the sauce recipe for this egg roll bowl recipe. However, if you want a bit of spice you could replace it with sriracha sauce or even your favorite hot sauce.

I personally like to make it with the chili sauce and then drizzle a bit of sriracha over the completed deconstructed egg roll recipe. Garnish with some red pepper flakes and wonton strips.

Pork egg roll bowl is a feel good low carb dinner idea. Not only is it low carb but it can also be made in 20 minutes making it the perfect dinner recipe for busy nights. This egg roll in a bowl recipe will have your family asking you to make it over and over again instead of asking for Chinese food.
