Shabby Chic Bedroom

August 1, 2017 by Jennifer 4 Comments

Pink Curtains Words in Yellow that say Shabby Chic

Shabby Chic is a design style that is made up of furniture that seems to be worn or distressed to show a sign of age. Shabby chic fabric is made up of soft colors and flower prints.

Pink curtains that have flowers for tie backs and the word Shabby Chic at the top of the picture.

My youngest daughter is a girly- girly, she loves pink, clothes, flowers, music, drawing, dolls, and did I mention pink. With that in mind, I knew that shabby chic would be the way to go for her bedroom makeover.

Old desk

I found this cute desk at an estate sale. And knew right away that I wanted to paint it white using chalk paint, then distressed it some for that aged look. I knew I would need to seal it to protect it from the wear and tear of use so I used wax. For the top of the desk, I simply used a darker stain.

We also replaced the drawer pulls to go along with the shabby chic look I was after.

Pained Desk and Mirror in a bedroom.

For my first time painting furniture, I'm happy with the way it turned out. Most importantly she is happy with how it looks as well as she uses it.

I thought she could use this desk also as a vanity so I needed to find a mirror to go along with. I found this perfect oval mirror at another estate sale and couldn't pass up the good deal.

Mirror with flowers at the top of it.

Again I painted it white with the chalk paint and distressed it some and sealed with the wax. I used a floral garland for both the tie backs for her curtains and as an accent piece to add to the shabby chic look.

Painting the wall's

Bedroom that is prepped to be painted.

Just like the half bath and the rest of the house her room was this brown taupe color. Behr paint is my favorite paint to use when doing any color changes in the house.

We picked out a color called Moxie in eggshell enamel, the eggshell paint will be easier for cleaning up. Painting isn't my favorite thing to do so this part of the project did take me some time to finish.

Shabby Chic Bedding

Shabby Chic bedding on a bed with a pink pillow.

Needing a new bedspread I found this sweet little quilt at Target, I have a pillow sham ordered just waiting for it to come in to complete the look.

The blue pillowcase I made for her a few months ago, it really doesn't go well with the room but she likes it so it shall stay. She was also in need of a new bed shirt that I also found at Target, I love the little eyelet detail at the bottom of the skirt.

Shabby Curtains

Pink curtains with toys in from of the window.

Not sure about you all but buying curtains always bother's me, I know what I want but never can find the exact ones anywhere.

Well, this time it was the exception, I wanted silky pale pink curtains and that's what I found. The tie backs as I said were a floral garland that I cut down to the size I wanted. They add a pretty element to the curtains as well as hold the curtains open.

Finished Room

Bed with pink pillow on it, night stand and picture on the wall.

With some finishing touches like flowers and a couple of lace dollies, little Lady was very pleased with how her room turned out.

I also loved how her Shabby Chic room turned out ~ Jenny

I love what can be done with old furniture from estate sales. I'm glad your little one is happy with her new room, I think I would be happy with it too.
