Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri is the ultimate summertime cocktail recipe. This cocktail recipe is made with frozen strawberries, rum, triple sec, fresh-squeezed lime juice, sugar, and crushed ice.
It didn't seem like it would happen but summertime and the warm weather has finally came to Michigan. So that means it's time to sit and enjoy a cocktail or two on the back deck and watch the beautiful sunset.
When I think of summer I think of strawberries and I knew I wanted a frozen strawberry daiquiri to enjoy on the deck. I had my personal bartender hook me up with this sweet and delicious cocktail to enjoy one night on the deck.
Strawberry Daiquiri
Growing up we lived on a dairy farm that my dad worked on. I can remember many summer nights my parents sitting with dad's boss and his family out on the back lawn to have a cocktail together.
I also remember a strawberry daiquiri being involved often. However, dad's version was much different than this one. I'm still thinking of how dad made his.
So let's get to the one that my personal bartender (hubby) made for me that warm summer night a few weeks ago.
This classic daiquiri dates back to the early 1900's but has found its popularity in the 1940's.
By the 1950's, with the growing popularity of the household blender. Blended drinks became more common and the strawberry daiquiri was one the firstborn of that era.
The classic recipe is made up of basic ingredients but proves tricky in getting the balance just right. We found this to be the case in the making of our frozen strawberry daiquiri as well.
Our frozen strawberry daiquiri has all the elements of a classic daiquiri but with a couple of added ingredients. The first change we made was we added triple sec in our recipe as well as fresh lime juice.
If you checked out our Classic Mimosa recipe you know we used triple sec in that recipe as well. We like the orange flavor that triple sec brings to cocktail recipes. I do recommend that you buy yourself a bottle of triple sec, it adds a nice orange flavor in drinks.

On our test runs with this recipe, okay little side track here. Whenever I make recipes I test them many times before I write up a blog post.
So you can imagine how many times we made this one since we kept making changes to the recipe. Thankfully we didn't do this all in one night.
Anyway, another big difference we noticed was the strawberries. At first, we tried fresh strawberries but didn't like how seedy the drink was. Plus we weren't getting the frozen consistency we wanted.
As I was off to the grocery store one day hubby says buy a bag of frozen strawberries for our cocktail recipe. I came home with a four-pound bag, figuring we would need extra since we hadn't nailed down the recipe yet. At this point, we have less than a pound left in that bag.
You won't need a four-pound bag to make this drink, but it wouldn't hurt to buy a big bag. Because you are going to want to make this cocktail more than once.
We also used a little bit of crushed ice in this drink. Between the frozen strawberries and the ice we got the perfect frozen consistency we were looking for.
We used a little sugar instead of simple syrup. We figured that the natural sweetness from the berries and the sugar in the alcohol would be enough to sweeten the drink. So we used very little sugar.
While we were testing the recipe we initially used lime juice from a bottle. You know the concentrated lime juice, however, we found that it was too sour and overpowering in our daiquiri.
Going back to the blender we decided to give freshly squeezed lime juice a try. Oh my goodness fresh lime made a significant difference.
We found that one lime would product approximately 1 ounce of juice. Of course that depends on the size of the lime.
In conclusion
The rum we used Bacardi, it's a light flavor white rum. It's often used in mixed drinks like our Bahama Mama Cocktail.
This frozen strawberry daiquiri or our Bahama Mama cocktail recipes make for a great summertime drink to have.
