These homemade Chocolate chip cookies are the best ever! They bake up soft and buttery and loaded with chocolate chips. The perfect recipe for a sweet treat after school or in the evening.

Chocolate chip cookies are my family's favorite. This means whenever I make these cookies they don't seem to last very long in my house.

This also means these cookies are requested quite often.  Last week I gave my oldest and youngest a lesson on how to make my chocolate chip cookies. My oldest asked where the recipe was.

To which I replied by pointing to my head,  I was then told, "Mom you really should write that down for us". Well, that child is right, I should write it down, so here is the best chocolate chip recipe.

How To Make

The first step is to make sure that your butter is at room temperature. Normally, if I know that I'm planning on doing any kind of baking. I will take the butter out the day before and have it sitting out on the counter.

But there are those occasions when I forget to take the butter out. Then I will place the butter on the back of the stove while my oven is heating up.

Depending on how hard the butter is, I might turn it a couple of times to get all the sides of the butter softened. Room temperature butter makes these cookies much fluffier.

Another one of my tricks with baking is I always sift my flour. This also helps with making the cookies fluffy.

While I was waiting for my butter to soften on the stove. I sifted 3 cups of flour,  1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking soda into a bowl and set the bowl aside.

Mixing it up

Once the butter was soft enough, I placed 2 sticks of butter into my Kitchen Aid Mixer. My husband has spoiled me by buying me kitchen appliances, and this one is the best investment he could have ever made. I love my Kitchen Aid Mixer.

Mix the 2 sticks of butter, ¾ cup sugar, and ¾ cup packed brown sugar together until all ingredients are combined. I use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl as it mixes.

Then I added my  1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 2 eggs. I always add one egg at a time, making sure that it's mixed well before I add the next egg. Once all this is combined together I add my sifted flour.

Here is another tip: I only add a little flour at a time and make sure the mixer is on low. Yes, this is something that I have learned the hard way.

I have had flour all over the place because I had my mixer speed to high. Once you have all the flour added to the butter mixture. You can remove the mixing bowl from the mixer.

Again, using a rubber spatula, scrape the sides of your mixing bowl to make sure you have all the flour combined. Now add your chocolate chips. If you would like, walnuts.

Actually, this time I used chocolate chunks because the kids used most of the chocolate chips I had, you can use whatever you prefer.

How Long Do I Bake The Cookies For

In order to make the perfect-sized cookie, I find that this ice cream scoop works best. I also prefer to use silicone baking mats on the cookie sheets.

Fill your cookie sheet with the cookie dough. On this cookie sheet, I can get 9 scoops of dough. For the most part, these cookies don't spread out much; they rise more.

Bake in a 375℉ oven for 13-15 minutes or until done. Put the baked best-ever chocolate chip cookies on a cooling rack to cool. If you are like my kids and can't wait for them to cool they do go really well with a nice cold glass of milk.
