To make this garlic cheese bread recipe, all you need is 5 simple ingredients. In this section we will talk about the ingredients and what if any substitutions that can be used.

Bread: This time I used a French baguette that I bought at the grocery store. But I have used Italian bread from the store as well as my bread machine French bread recipe.

You can use any type of bread you choose be it store-bought like ciabatta bread, sourdough bread, or make homemade garlic bread.

Butter: Unsalted butter works best for this recipe, but salted butter will also work. I also prefer to melt the butter however, room temperature butter will work. As long as the butter is softened it will spread on the loaf of bread easier. You can also substitute olive oil for butter.

Garlic: I used jarred minced garlic just to make it quicker to make. Fresh garlic or garlic powder will also work. Although fresh garlic will have a stronger flavor than garlic powder.

Parmesan cheese: grated parmesan adds a rich nutty flavor and enhances the overall taste of the garlic bread. You can also use freshly grated parmesan cheese, however, this may change the baking time.

Mozzarella cheese would be perfect, or try a pecorino romano, or an asiago or gruyere cheese.

Parsley: I used dried parsley, again only to make this a quick and easy recipe with fewer steps. You can use an Italian seasoning blend such as dried oregano, basil, or thyme.

Fresh parsley can also be used or even make a blend of fresh herbs to sprinkle on top of the bread. Or try giving the garlic bread a bit of a peppery woodsy flavor with some fresh rosemary.

These 5 ingredients come together to create the best garlic bread recipe. That makes the perfect side dish to a pot of spaghetti. After all who doesn't enjoy homemade garlic bread recipe with their pasta dishes?

How To Make

Making this delightful garlic parmesan bread is quite simple. Take the loaf of French bread and slice it in half horizontally. Place the sliced bread onto a prepared baking sheet. I like to use silicone liners, but parchment paper or aluminum foil will also work.

In a small bowl combine the melted butter, minced garlic, grated parmesan cheese, and parsley together. Spread half of the butter mixture onto each half of the cut side of the bread. Making sure to generously coat each half with the garlic butter mixture.

Place the sheet pan into a preheated 375 degree oven baking for 15-20 minutes. Or until the buttery parmesan garlic bread is golden brown and crispy. Slice into smaller pieces to serve.

Questions And Tips

Here are some common questions about this quick parmesan garlic bread recipe.

Can parmesan garlic bread be made ahead of time and reheated?

Yes, it can be made ahead of time and reheated. You will want to prepare the bread as directed in the recipe card and allow it to cool completely after baking. Then wrap it in foil and place it in an airtight container for 1-2 days in the refrigerator.

When ready to serve, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. I would leave it wrapped in the foil but you can unwrap it. Bake the bread until heated thoroughly.
While reheating the bread will still provide you with a tasty result, freshly baked garlic parmesan bread is best.

How to store leftover bread?

To store leftover parmesan garlic bread allow it to cool completely. Wrap in foil and place in an airtight container.

Yes, it can be frozen. Once the bread is fully cooled wrap in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe container. This will last in the freezer for 2-3 months.
