Learn how to make oven-baked bacon that turns out crispy. This simple recipe for bacon cooked in the oven can be used in many other delicious recipes.
Bacon has been the craze lately. You can find recipes that have bacon wrapped around just about anything or going into a recipe like my Loaded Mashed Potatoes recipe.
Today I’m going to share with you how to make bacon a quick and simple way that will still give you crispy bacon that you like.
How To Bake Bacon In The Oven
Making bacon in the oven isn’t that hard. I find that I prefer to make it this way rather than cooking it in a frying pan.
Start by preheating your oven to 400℉. While the oven is coming to the temperature you can get the bacon ready.
There are two ways that you can prepare a cookie sheet to make this recipe. One is lining a cookie sheet with foil and placing the bacon on the foil to cook. I have done this many times, the bacon just has to bake longer if you like it crispier.
The other way is by placing a cooling rack on a cookie sheet. Then place the bacon on the rack. This helps get airflow around the bacon which will give it crispiness on both sides.
This is the way I prefer to make it.
Once you have the bacon on the cookie sheet with your desired method place into the 400℉ oven to bake.
Depending on how crispy you like your bacon will determine how long to cook your oven-baked bacon for. I find that 20 minutes gives me my desired crispiness. However, I’m sure my husband would say another 5-10 for him.
Once the bacon has baked in the oven remove from the cooling rack onto a plate that is lined with paper towel. The paper towel will help absorb any of the bacon greases.
Oven-baked bacon can be enjoyed in many recipes or as a side with your breakfast eggs.
Can You Freeze Bacon?
If you are working at meal prepping for the week and are wondering if bacon can be frozen. The answer is yes you can.
What I recommend is making sure the bacon strips are completely cooled before placing them in a zip lock bag. Oven-baked bacon will last up to 6 months in the freezer.

- 1 Package Bacon About 12 slices in a package
Preheat the oven to 400℉
If you are using a cooling rack go ahead and place that on your cookie sheet. If you don't have a cooling rack that will fit your cookie sheet then line the cookie sheet with foil.
Place the bacon on the cooling rack or foil. Try not to let the bacon overlap each other. If you can't get all the bacon on one cookie sheet then go ahead and use another one.
Place the bacon lined cookie sheet pans into the preheated 400℉ oven for 15-20 minutes. Or until desired crispiness is achieved.
Place on a plate that is lined with paper towel to absorb the grease. Serve and enjoy.
