Ingredients Needed And Substitutions
In this section, I will share the ingredients that are needed to make this cinnamon streusel banana bread. Along with any substations that can be used.
Ripe bananas provide a natural sweetness and brings moisture to the bread. Which gives it that rich banana flavor you expect in banana bread.
All Purpose Flour serves as the base of the bread which provides structure and stability. It's also used in the crumb topping to bind the ingredients together. Instead of all-purpose flour, you can use whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor or gluten-free flour to make this a gluten-free version.
Granulated sugar adds sweetness to the bread as well as the streusel topping. Which enhances the overall flavor of the bread. Sugar can be replaced with a natural sweetener such as honey or maple syrup.
Brown Sugar adds sweetness and a slight caramel flavor to the streusel topping.

Unsalted Butter adds moisture and richness to the bread. It's also what creates the tender crumbs that adorn the top of the banana bread.
Eggs are the binding agent that provides structure to the bread. To make this an egg-free banana bread you could use an egg substitute.
Baking Powder and Baking Soda are the leaving agents that help the bread to rise and create a light fluffy texture.
Salt enhances the overall flavor and balances the sweetness.
Vanilla Extract adds depth of flavor and enhances the taste of the bananas. I like to use my homemade bourbon vanilla extract.
Cinnamon brings warmth and adds a delightful aroma and flavor to the crumb topping.
Milk adds moisture to the batter which helps to keep the banana bread tender and moist.
Please keep in mind any changes with the ingredients could change the overall texture and flavor of this banana bread with crumb topping.
How To Make
This easy banana bread recipe is simple to make. Start by making the streusel topping. Into a small bowl add in the dry ingredients. I like to mix these together really well before I add in the cold cubed butter. Cut in the cold butter using a fork or a pastry cutter.

Once I get the butter cut in and have the desired-looking clumps I put the mixing bowl into the refrigerator. That way the butter doesn't have a chance to come to room temperature and change the overall look of the crumb topping when baking.
In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer mash the bananas using a fork. Then add into the mashed bananas the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
Once those are fully mixed together sift together the dry ingredients for the bread batter. Then slowly add the flour mixture to the banana mixture. Mixing until combined and being careful to not overmix the batter.

Grab a 9x5-inch loaf pan and spray it with nonstick cooking spray or line it with parchment paper. Pour batter into the prepared pan, and grab that streusel topping that's been chilling in the fridge. Then sprinkle the streusel topping on top of the batter.
Place the streusel-topped banana bread into a preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes. Or bake until the banana bread topping is golden brown. Use a toothpick to check the middle for doneness.

Tips And Tricks
We like to share any tips and tricks that can help when making our recipes. So here are a few tips and tricks we have for this amazing banana bread with streusel topping recipe.
Use overripe bananas for a sweeter and more flavorful banana bread recipe. Look for bananas at the grocery store that already have a lot of brown spots on the peel. Unripe bananas will not have the best flavor for this banana bread recipe.
Make sure to preheat the oven to ensure that your banana bread will bake properly as well as raise.
Use measuring spoons and cups accurately to ensure precise measurements. Take measuring the flour, it's best to spoon the flour into the measuring cup. Instead of scooping the flour with the measuring cup.
Don't overmix the batter, overmixing can lead to a dense texture of the bread. Layer the crumb topping evenly over the batter. That way every slice of banana bread will have the perfect amount of streusel topping.

To create a bit more texture to the banana bread add in chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans. Try mixing in some dried cranberries, raisins, or chocolate chips.
Keep in mind all ovens bake differently, adjust the baking time if need be. If the bread is browning too fast, make a tent with aluminum foil to place on the loaf pan.
Allow the bread to cool in the baking dish for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Use a bread knife to cut it once cooled. Store the banana bread with streusel topping in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. It can be kept at room temperature for 2-3 days.
This bread does freeze well if properly stored. Wrap in plastic wrap then place into a freezer bag or an airtight container for up to three months. Thaw the bread at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
This delectable banana bread with streusel topping is a must-try recipe that is sure to satisfy your cravings for a moist and flavorful treat.

Mine is all soggy on top no crumbs, got gooey!
Jennifer
There could of been a few things. The butter needs to be cold if its soft or melted it will do this. It may of need a bit longer to bake to get that top crispy, the crumb topping shouldn't been pressed down. I hope this helps.
