Cooked bagel bites on a plate and some on a sheet pan.

Not only do pizza bagel bites make for a great lunch recipe for the kids. But they can be enjoyed as a late-night snack to go along with that movie you are enjoying.

When the kids are home for the summer or holiday breaks I find myself searching for a quick lunch recipe. These homemade pizza bagel bites have been a hit every time I make them.

Pizza Bagel Bites Recipe

This recipe calls for mini bagels but you could use the full-sized bagels, making it a budget-friendly dinner idea.

All the ingredients that is needed to make homemade pizza bagels with.

When I make this recipe I like to assemble all the ingredients onto the bagels before I bake them.

However, if you like your bites with an extra crunch. Then you could bake just the bagel first.

To get that extra crunch to your bagel split the bagel open, Place open side up onto a foil-lined baking sheet and bake in a 350℉ for 5 minutes.

Then flip the bagels so the split side is down and bake for another 3-5 minutes. The time for this will depend on how crunchy you like your bagel bites.

Splitting the bagel open is the first step to making this recipe no matter if you are baking or assembling the ingredients first.

My girls and I don't like extra crunch to our bagels so I start with adding pizza sauce onto the bagels first.

One of my kids isn't a huge fan of much pizza sauce so I tend to go lightly on the sauce.

That's what is great about these mini pizzas they can be customized to your liking.

Homemade bites that have sauce and cheese on it.

The next step I do is add shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Now you could even customize these by starting with the cheese.

You could use cheddar, a taco blend, or even a pepper jack cheese.

How Long To Bake The Bites For

Pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce on a mini bagel.

Normally when we order pizza out my girls prefer to have just a cheese and pepperoni pizza. So since I was making these mini bites for them I decided to only add cheese and pepperoni.

I was able to find mini-sized pepperonis however you can use normal size and then cut down into smaller sizes.

At this point, you can still customize these bites to your liking. By adding your favorite pizza toppings like bell peppers, mushrooms, or olives.

Bagel Bites on a sheet pan before they are cooked.

I'm all about easy clean up as well as quick and easy recipes. So as I make the bagel bites I will place them onto a lined sheet pan.

I have a silicone liner on my sheet pan but foil will work as well.

Having some type of lining on the sheet pan will help with the melting of the cheese at clean up.

Homemade pizza bagels on a plate as well as on a sheet pan.

Place the sheet pan full of pizza bagel bites into a preheated 350℉ oven for 20 minutes. I found this to be the perfect amount of time to get that little bit of crunch to the bagels that we like. As well as melt the cheese completely.

Helpful Tips

The amount of time that you will need to bake them for. Will depend on how much crunch you like your bites to have. At least 20 minutes to get a nice crunch and the cheese melted.

If you like your bagel bites to have more of a crunch. Then I would leave in the oven for 5-minute intervals until the desired crunchiness is achieved.

You can also prebake the bagels like I mentioned up above.
