The ultimate homemade meatball recipe for spaghetti or subs. Made with ground beef and ground pork make for a flavorful meatball.
A combination of two types of meat combined with few ingredients then rolled into a ball and baked to perfection. These homemade meatballs make a great dinner recipe on their own.
Meatball, meatballs yummy, yummy meatballs.
A couple of weeks ago my middle child and I did our first ever freezer meal prep. We had loads of fun working together and prepping for future meals. It was a good learning experience for her as well as a good time for us to bond a little.
I made meatballs for a couple of the recipes, plus I also froze some plan meatballs for a quick last minute meal at another time.
I have to admit doing all those freezer meals was well worth the time and effort that we put into doing them.
Having a premade meal in the freezer saved me some time in the kitchen.
However, some of my family has been asking for some “fresh” non-frozen meals.
So today I made a fresh batch of meatballs to go on top of spaghetti. Unfortunately, they were not all covered in cheese and all the meatballs did stay on our plates.
We all know what song I was thinking of the whole time I was making this dinner.
Ingredients To Make Meatballs
Just look at those beautiful, uncooked, but still beautiful meatballs. To make it easier on myself when I was making them I made sure to have all my ingredients out and ready.
I find having everything out saves me time and I also know if I have everything for the recipe. There has been many times I went to make something and I was out of an ingredient.
I wanted these meatballs to have a luscious taste, so I combined ground pork with my ground beef. I have also used ground turkey and chicken along with the ground beef in the past.
The pork helps grab on to the seasonings better which helps add more flavor to the meatball.
Breadcrumbs are a staple in my house, they can be used in many recipes as a binding agent. The breadcrumbs I used were the plain kind, they helped the eggs bind everything together better.
I also love using the Italian breadcrumbs since they have a little seasoning in them.
Making sure to break up the two eggs before putting them in with the meat, helps with mixing. Doing this in a separate bowl I find helps.
The little secret is that I use Worcestershire sauce. Now I don’t use much of this because it can be a pretty impactful sauce not to mention Worcestershire sauce can be on the salty side. But if used sparingly it helps bring out a savory flavor in the beef.
I also have been making sure to use the low sodium Worcestershire sauce, I would rather have control of the amount of salt in my recipes.
Rolling Into Balls
After I have everything mixed up I use my small scoop to make the meatballs all the same size.
Of course, I’m not above getting my hands into the meat and rolling them by hand either. Sometimes it’s easier to it this way.
Putting them in a prepared baking pan. Once all the meatballs are formed I covered my pan with foil then they were placed in a 350-Degree oven for 1 hour.
Once these are baked you can do many things with them. Spaghetti is a good one, meatball subs: my family adores, you can use them for freezer meals.
We also love to have these meatballs as Swedish meatballs, they taste so good no matter which way we have them.

- 1/2 Pound Ground Beef
- 1/2 Pound Ground Pork
- 1 Cup Bread Crumbs
- 2 Eggs Broken up
- 1/2 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 Teaspoon Italian Seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon Parsley Flakes You can always use fresh
- 1/2 Med. Size Onion Finely Chopped
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic Minced
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
Preheat oven to 350- Degrees,
Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl,
Mix all ingredients until combined,
Form the meatballs to preferred size.
Place in a prepared baking pan,
Once all meatballs are formed cover the pan with foil,
Place in oven for 1 hour
