One of the many reasons I love summer is for all the fresh fruits and vegetables there are. I love being able to make all kinds of fresh salsas or salads like our easy strawberry salsa recipe, classic bruschetta recipe or our Greek cucumber salad. This fresh blueberry salsa recipe is an all-time favorite.

The fruit lovers in your life are sure to dig into this fresh blueberry salsa recipe. Blueberry fruit salsa is sure to become your new favorite salsa as well. So be sure to have plenty of corn chips or pita chips to load up with all this summery salsa.

Ingredients Needed

Like a traditional salsa, this recipe has fresh cilantro and jalapeno pepper in it. Along with fresh blueberries, red onion, red pepper, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a sprinkling of salt.

How To Make

Not only is this fruit salsa recipe easy to make but can be ready for dipping into within minutes.

A bowl filled with all the fresh ingredient to make this healthy salsa recipe with.

Start with chopping the red onion and red bell pepper into chopped pieces that will be easy for scooping. When it comes to the jalapéno pepper I like to dice mine finely to help the spicy pepper blend in better. If you prefer bigger pieces that will work.

Fresh cilantro really brings in a lot of flavor, we do prefer that the cilantro is finely minced up so there are small pieces in every bite.

When it comes to the fresh blueberry we are going to do two things with them. Some we will leave whole while the rest we will chop up a little bit. I do recommend chopping the blueberries up last that way they don't turn brown. Or you could squeeze a bit of lime juice on the blueberries.

Now you could make this in the food processor but I prefer to have this a bit of a chunky salsa.

Questions

Is blueberry salsa healthy?

Yes, it is because it is made with all fresh fruits and vegetables.

What to serve with blueberry salsa?

Blueberry salsa goes great with pita chips or tortilla chips. It also complements chicken breast, fish, and pork chops as well.

Can this fresh blueberry salsa be made ahead of time?

It sure can! Making it ahead of the needed time will allow the flavors to marry together. I recommend storing it in an airtight container or a bowl that's covered with plastic wrap. Keep in the refrigerator until needed. I would also only recommend making a few hours ahead of time.

How long will blueberry salsa last in the refrigerator?

Unfortunately, this fresh salsa doesn't last long in the fridge. It's best to serve the same day you make this recipe. Since the blueberries are cut they will become brown and soggy.

This gourmet salsa recipe features summer blueberries, sweet red bell pepper, red onion, jalapéno pepper, fresh cilantro, and a splash of lemon juice. What could be better than this blueberry salsa piled onto a pita chip? So the next time you're at the grocery store or farmers market pick up the ingredients needed to make this fresh fruit salsa. Along with some pita chips or corn tortilla chips.
