These deviled strawberries are simply amazing and will be a hit whenever you serve them. Fresh strawberries are sliced in half and then stuffed with a creamy filling. A sprinkling of crushed graham crackers and a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top of each juicy strawberry. These stuffed strawberries remind you of strawberry cheesecake in a bite sized form.
This deviled strawberry recipe makes for a great appetizer to serve at parties. Or as an easy finger food dessert, the kids are sure to love. Sweeten your Valentine's Day with these stuffed strawberries.
How To Make
This recipe is really easy to make and only takes a few simple ingredients. I like to start out by cleaning, cutting the ends off, and slicing fresh strawberries. With a small knife, you can slice a small sliver off of the back of the strawberry. This will allow the strawberry to sit flat and not roll off a plate.
Scooping out the middle of each strawberry a bit with either a spoon or a small melon baller. This will allow the creamy filling a place to sit without sliding off the strawberries.
I like to use a deviled egg platter to hold the sliced strawberry halves. I have an airtight deviled egg container that I use but a fancy egg platter would dress this elegant appetizer up a bit.
Next is the cheesecake filling. In a large bowl mix together the room temperature cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla extract together. In a medium bowl whip heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
Then gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture. I filled a piping bag fitted with a smaller star tip to make the strawberries look fancy. There is quite a bit of this cheesecake filling so any extra you could use as a dip for the strawberries or any type of fruit.
The size of the strawberries as well as how much of the cheesecake filling you add to each strawberry. Will affect how many of these bite-sized appetizers you get. I'm sure larger size strawberries can be found at peak strawberry season. I was only able to find smaller berries at the grocery store.
With the ripe strawberries filled, top with graham cracker crumbs and a chocolate drizzle.
Why Make This Recipe
Not only is this an easy recipe that can be made in minutes making it a great appetizer. But this delicious treat is perfect to share for Mother's Day or Valentine's Day. Or just as yummy dessert to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Tips
When mixing the ingredients together I do recommend using softened cream cheese. It will blend better when mixed with heavy cream. I used a hand mixer but you could use a stand mixer. However, when combining the whipped cream in with the cream cheese mixture it's best to fold them together using a rubber spatula.
Deviled strawberries will need to be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, though they don't last long before the strawberries become watery.
Change up the flavor of this easy dessert in a few different ways. Turn the filling into a chocolate filling by adding melted chocolate to the cream cheese mixture. Or try mixing some strawberry jam into the cheesecake filling.
Replace the chocolate syrup with mini chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or crushed peanut butter cups. Replace the crushed graham crackers with a sprinkle of coconut flakes.
Deviled Strawberries are a great appetizers recipe any time of the year. But would be an amazing summertime treat with fresh juicy strawberries.
