During the Christmas season at our house, we have many family traditions. You can find some of our traditions in the Family Christmas Traditions post.

One of the traditions that the happy three look forward to is when I make this hot cocoa recipe. I'll make this recipe for when we have family movie nights.

It's a great recipe for Christmas Eve when we watch Polar Express.  Of course, hot cocoa isn't just for Christmas time. It's great for after those cold snowy sledding days.

My kids have even requested this delicious drink in the middle of the summer.

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Decadent doesn't describe this creamy rich hot cocoa. It's so very good and easy to make!

The ingredient that you will need to make this hot cocoa recipe are heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, unsweetened cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract.

I start making this in the crockpot by adding the whipping cream, condensed milk, milk, and vanilla extract together.

I then whisk in the cocoa powder, using a whisk helps break down the cocoa powder. Once the cocoa powder is all whisked into the milk I add the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Turning the crockpot on low for 2 hours. Every so often I came back in with the whisk to mix things up. The chocolate chip settles to the bottom and will melt there.

Whisking helps combine that melted chocolate to the milk.  After the two hours are up I turn my crockpot to warm.

Ladle this decadent hot cocoa into mugs and serve topped with whipped cream or marshmallows. Drizzle the top with chocolate and caramel syrup for added flavor.

Sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top, add a straw, and enjoy this crockpot hot cocoa recipe.

Doesn't this recipe sound so good for a cold winter night?
