Ingredients Needed

All the ingredients needed to make these rainbow veggie pinwheels.

In this section, we will talk about the ingredients needed for these veggie pinwheels. Along with what they bring to the recipe and any changes that can be made.

  • Spinach Wrap is the building foundation for the cream cheese mixture and veggies. I used spinach tortillas but you can use flour tortillas.
  • Whipped Cream Cheese adds a creamy texture with a mild taste that goes perfectly with the ranching seasoning and veggies. You could replace the cream cheese with Greek Yogurt, hummus, or an avocado spread.
  • Ranch Seasoning brings a tangy herbal flavor to the cream cheese which complements the veggies. You can replace the ranch seasoning with Italian, taco, or a garlic and herb seasoning blend.
  • Red Bell Pepper brings that crunch factor to the pinwheels.
  • Yellow Bell Pepper, just like the red pepper brings a crunchiness to the veggie roll-ups.
  • Carrot adds bright color, crunch, and a slight sweetness. You could replace the carrot with zucchini, green beans, or cucumber.
  • Baby Spinach offers a mild fresh flavor as well as a little more color to the pinwheels. The spinach can be replaced with lettuce if you like.
  • Purple Cabbage definitely brings in a bright color to the rainbow pinwheels. While also offering that crunch factor. You could replace the red cabbage with green cabbage, red onion, or radishes.

Any of the veggies used in this rainbow pinwheel recipe can be replaced with a variety of colorful vegetables.

These pinwheels are easy to make, start by mixing the whipped cream cheese with the ranch seasoning in a small bowl.

Looking down on a bunch of the rainbow veggie pinwheels on a cutting board.

What type of tortilla works best for veggie pinwheels?

I used the spinach tortilla but flour ones will work as well. They are flexible and will roll up more easily without breaking.

Can I add more of the cream cheese mixture?

Yes, if you feel there isn't enough of the cream cheese mixture on the tortilla shells. You can double the cream cheese and ranch seasoning amounts.

Can rainbow veggie pinwheels be made ahead of time?

Yes, they sure can be. I recommend placing them in an airtight container and keeping them in the fridge.

What is a good dipping sauce for these vegetable pinwheels?

You could dip them into ranch dressing, a creamy cilantro Iime dip, hummus, salsa, or a yogurt herb dip.

How do you keep the pinwheels from unrolling?

The best way is to roll the pinwheels up tightly. You can place them in the fridge for 30 minutes to help adhere the pinwheels together before cutting them. If they still won't stay together you can use a toothpick to hold them together.
