Seven Layer Dip With Ground Beef
I'm always looking for recipes to use ground beef in. Ground beef can be cheaper meat to buy and can be stretched farther. I find that a pound of ground beef works great in this recipe as well in my Beef Queso Dip.
Since my family loves my guacamole recipe so much I thought I would put together this Seven Layer Taco Dip with ground beef. It happened to be a big hit at a Cinco De Mayo party that we were invited to last year.
Here is how simple it is to make.
Layers of the Seven Layer Dip
The size dish I used was a 9x9, now you can go larger if you would like. I felt this would be the perfect depth to my dip.
The first layer of the dip is refried beans. Use your favorite brand of canned refried beans and spoon it into your dish. Since I consider this a cold dish I did not heat the beans up.
The second layer would be the sour cream layer. To make this more taco like I added a package of taco seasoning into the sour cream. Making sure that all the sour cream had taco seasoning in it.
Spread the taco sour cream mixture over the refried beans.
Ground beef that has been cooked and is at room temperature will be the next layer. When I cooked my ground beef I just seasoned it with pepper.
I figured there will be enough flavors in the dip that the ground beef doesn't need much seasoning.
Spread the ground beef over the taco sour cream layer.
Layer four is Guacamole. You can use my recipe for Guacamole with Pico De Gallo and then save some of the Pico De Gallo for the last layer. Spread the Guacamole as evenly as you can over the ground beef layer.
Moving on to the layer with lettuce. I chopped my lettuce really fine. Finely chopping the lettuce helps to allow room for all the layers on your chip.
The last layers
Sprinkle Taco blend cheese over the lettuce for layer six. If you are a cheese fan like me then you can always use more than what I did.
The last layer will be the Pico De Gallo. I like the freshness of Pico De Gallo but if your not a fan of Pico then you can use Salsa or fresh diced tomatoes.
I recommend serving this dip right away. Since the Pico De Gallo has lime juice in it, the dip will start to get a little runny.
I have noticed that if there is any dip left by the second day that the lime juice will be in with the refried beans.
Serve with your favorite Tortilla Chips and enjoy.
